Hino Valke vs Steval Pumas – 08/04/2016

Friday night in Nelspruit was always going to be tough. We prepared for this game for weeks now.

A good start in this competition is vital for us to qualify.

We managed the game well and controlled most parts of it.

17 line outs to 9 in our favour shows the amount of possession we had.

We only needed to make 71 tackles in this game. Our discipline was once again above average and thus we only conceded 7 penalties.

We made a lot of decision-making mistakes which cost us at least 4 tries. The effort  level of the players  however was outstanding.

Our defense was solid and we conceded no tries. If we had to choose a man of the match the award would go for the team collectively.

Two great tries by Dean Muir and Andrew van Wyk was scored and a conversion by Karlo Aspeling.

Our two tries to three penalties for the 12-9 scoreline does not reflect the effort of the team.

The players of the bench also made a massive contribution.

We must give credit to the Pumas who also played well and the game was in the balance right up to last minute.

Positives are our kick offs and line outs and the way we handled the pressure.

The referee also handled a pressure game really well.
