Hino Valke Travels to George to take on the SWD Eagles

The Hino Valke will be hoping to continue its winning ways when they take on the South Western District Eagles. The weatherman predicts wet and cold weather conditions and this will definitely pose a different challenge for a team used to dry condition of the Highveld.  Meanwhile the Eagles will be looking to redeem themselves after a heavy loss to the top of the table and defending champions the Griffons. There is no better place for the Eagles to do it than in their own backyard.

The Hino Valke had enjoyed successes in the last two encounters when the two teams played, winning on both occasions in George and at home, and they will be looking to use this as a confidence booster against a team seating on sixth position on the 1st Division Currie Cup log.  The Valke is on 4th position after collecting maximum points against the Namibian Welwitchias. “We need to win with a bonus point in order to put pressure on the log leaders. Each and every member of the squad is aware of the challenge they will be facing said Coach Rudy Joubert” ,who has been hard at training getting his team to improve on its defensive efforts. “I am not happy with the fact that we conceded 6 tries in the previous game against the Welwitchias. Although we won the game it was too close for comfort and we must put a concerted defensive effort in order to improve in that department” continued Joubert.

The team selected for the George encounter shows two changes and four positional switches. Martin Sithole comes in to the starting line-up in the place of the injured Robey Leibrandt. Don Nhlanhla Mlondobozi has been promoted from the bench to the starting line-up on the right wing, while Coert moves to fullback in place of Christian Rust who drops to the bench. Grant Janke shifts to inside centre in place of Errol Jaggers who moves to the bench. Jan Andries Truter has recovered from the shin injury and will be starting at outside centre. Hooker Jan Enslin will be captaining the side.

The team travels to George on Friday 15th September and kick-off will be at 18h00 the same day.
