The Hino Valke Under 20 team played their fourth match in round two of the Under 20 Currie Cup Championship on Saturday the 9th of September at Izak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark against Griffons Under 20 team.
The Griffons are currently the leaders in the competition as well as the current Currie Cup Champions and were definitely the favourites to win.
The Hino Valke lost with only 9 points in the first round against the Griffons in Welkom.
The Hino Valke lost the toss and was placed under early pressure after the Griffons kicked off.
The early high tempo of the match showed that the team who can handle the pressure the best and who can keep the tempo for 80 minutes will be winning the match.
The Griffons exploited two early mistakes of the Hino Valke and went on to score two converted tries 20 minutes into the match.
The Hino Valke systematically dominated the facets and tempo and scored three converted tries before the Griffons could only succeeded with a successful penalty goal just before half-time.
The Hino Valke went to rest at halftime with a lead of 21 points over 17.
In the second half there was only one team on the field and the Hino Valke showed why they wanted to win the game by early scoring two converted tries followed up by a successful penalty kick before the Griffons could respond with a converted try and successful penalty kick.
The last 10 minutes was the big difference between the two teams where the Hino Valke displayed the necessary composure and the will to win the match as they went on to score another two converted tries before the Griffons could score their last converted try giving the Hino Valke a well-deserved win of 52 points to the 34 for the Griffons.
