For our opening game in the Supersport challenge we travelled to Windhoek.
We started the game really well , keeping the ball from the first line out for 19 phases. That really set the tone for the game.
We dominated the scrums and should have had a penalty try awarded to us. We scored 4 great tries in the first half. Our defense were superb and we went into the changeroom leading 27-0.
Namibia came out in the secomd half with a lot of spirit and scored a great try. We then took control of the game again , but missed some try scoring opportunities.
We scored two more tries for the final score 39-7.
There were a lot of positives we can take out of this game. Our discipline was superb , although the opposition were very negative and niggly we kept our cool. we only conceded 4 penalties in the match.
Our line outs and scrums worked well. Our ball protection was superb only conceding one turn over in the game.
We can still improve our mauling and the backs can be more effective attacking from scrums.
The new law which allow rolling subs suits us well.
A very pleasing start to the season.
The Bulls on the 5th of May will be a total different challenge , but we are looking forward to that game.
