We started this game like a house on fire and scored our first try within 90 seconds of the game. Within ten minutes we were up 10 -0.
SWD only got their hands on the ball in the 13th minute.
We controlled the game well and were leading 22-5 at the break. We knew if we could speed up the game our superior fitness against a much heavier pack of forwards will give us a win.
We started the second half with a brilliant backline move from our 22 , we were stopped 5m from their try line and a penalty to them saw them recovering and getting back into the game.
They fought back and the decisive moment came when we had a 4 man overlap 3m from their try line , with the last defender intercepting what should have been an easy try to us. This 14 point swing in the game was telling.
We came back to take the lead with 2 min to go , but some miscommunication from the kick off saw them getting the winning try as the hooter went.
Both teams scored 6 tries a piece. They converted 3 and we could only get 2 conversions in difficult kicking conditions with two of our kicks from the sideline hitting the upright.
A very unnecessary 34-36 loss.
Our six try scorers were: Thabo Mabuza , Ettienne Taljaard ,Lundi Ralarala , Anrich Richter , Don Mohlombozi and Andries Truter.
Anrich Richter kicked two conversions.
We are still in a very favorable position with three games to go. Three wins with bonus points will see us top of the log and will give us an opportunity for a promotion relegation match as well as a home semi-final.
We travel to Wellington to take on the Boland on Saturday.
We will not settle for anything less than a bonus point win.
